The Normandy landings during World War 2 were the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France, and the rest of Western Europe, and laid the foundations of the Allied victory over Germany. Over 156,000 Allied soldiers took part and over 4,000 were killed on the landing beaches. In total the campaign took the lives of over 73,000 Allied soldiers.
Despite the obvious lessons of World War 2 fighting still continues in many places around the world as mankind keeps trying to retain its place as the cleverest animal on the planet.
Thanks to Javolenus for the 3 synth parts that are included in the mix and for inspiring the music.
